Up
till now, what we have seen of Dr. Ransei Aoi has been a
pathetic nebbish of a man, weak, intimidated by women, afraid of
human contact, dominated by his repressed drives and deep set shame.
A broken man, a man from which little beyond childish behavior can be
expected. We don't know Aoi's friend Moegiiro, and we don't need to,
because we do know death and suffering, and we know that even a
broken man can be changed by having to witness tragedy, to face horror.
